Travel Tips

One of my favorite places to travel is Disney World!!Disney Land is not far behind on my list of faves too. This is one of my favorite vacation spots and well worth the money. I know once you check out their website you will fall in love. Even if you feel it is still expensive I want to let you know why it is all worth while and why staying on property saves you money.
First off you save money on travel when you are staying at Disney. You will have FREE shuttle service to your hotel, including luggage pickup, which is great so you can run straight to the parks and your luggage will be waiting at the hotel for you. Once you are on property, you will have FREE shuttle service to all parks, water parks, and downtown area and they leave about every 15 minutes, so you do not have to wait long. This automatically saves you $5+ on your travels back and forth to the hotel and saves you $100+ on parking, etc while you are at the parks.
The parks are usually included in your package deal and the more days you stay the more you save. If you stay for at least 5 days you are getting your money's worth since you pay about the same for 4 days as you do for about 7 or 8 days. After your 5th day, the extra days are only a few dollars a day. That means you are getting a few days of entertainment for almost nothing. You can't beat that deal.
I will not deny that the food can be a little pricey at Disney, but there is a way around that too. Many of the hotels offer microwaves or fridges. They may not be in your room, but they should be offered in the main hall or you can spend $10 extra a day to rent one while your on property. That $10 a day can save you a lot of money. One trick I just recently learned is that you can have items delivered to the property and put on hold until your arrival. One woman mentioned ordering snacks and cases of water to her hotel. She spent less than $10 on drinks for her entire trip. Also many of the meals can be split, especially since you may not want to carry your leftovers around with you. I always make sure to bring snacks and usually a breakfast. Having at least one cheap meal a day helps so much.
So this is only the start to how Disney is the greatest place on earth and how it actually costs about the same or even cheaper than most vacations. The only difference is that you are seeing more of an up front cost versus spending some money here, then there, and everwhere. It usually ends up the same, just Disney gives you more predictability so you know exactly how much you are spending.
A last note, souvenirs. With any vacation, you can get everyday items as souvenirs, but here are a few from Disney. Once you book your vacation with them, they will send you a souvenir map that you can keep. Also many places offer cups where you can refill drinks. These cups also make excellent and useful souvenirs. While you are walking around the park, you can also allow your children to make their own souvenirs. Epcot offers a project for each country and also in the imagination area. Another FREEBIE is the videos that you can send yourself from Spaceship Earth and a few other locations on property. For those of you who want to get actual Disney souvenirs for your children, you can actually buy ahead of time. Many stores offer autograph books for $1, along with the pen and many other accessories. This is a great idea and you can give them to your child once you are at the park to make it more special. There's no reason to waste all your money on souvenirs that will end up in the garbage down the road, when you can be saving your dollars for you next vacation. : )
